Infill for artificial turf pitches in Stenungsund - Vallens IF

The challenge:
Municipalities and associations are facing the EU's upcoming ban on rubber-based infill for artificial grass pitches (from October 2031). This requires sustainable alternatives that meet both high technical and environmental requirements.

Which BIQ material is used: BIQ 200 infill

RESULTS: Two new artificial turf pitches - one full-size and one 7-a-side - have been completed in Stenungsund for Vallens IF Fotbollsförening. The project was carried out in collaboration with Stenungsund Municipality, Vallens IF, and Limonta Sport Sweden.

The choice fell on BIQ Materials' BIQ200 infill, a biodegradable infill that combines top quality with environmental benefits.

The system was originally approved according to FIFA Quality in lab tests, but after field tests it was upgraded to FIFA Quality PRO - a clear proof that sustainability and performance can go hand in hand.

Quote from Stenungsund municipality:

"For us, it is important to invest in solutions that last - both for the game and for the environment. By choosing a bio-based and biodegradable infill, we are taking an active step towards a more sustainable sports facility and environment."
- Stefan Emsund, Facility Manager, Stenungsund Municipality
