Customer Case Study: Linero IP Lund

Linero IP in Lund – an artificial turf field built for the future

At Linero IP in Lund, a new artificial turf field has been installed using BIQ400® in a modern artificial turf system from Limonta. The result is a future-proof field that combines high-quality play with a more sustainable choice of materials and excellent conditions for cost-effective operation over time.

The EU’s restrictions on microplastics mean that traditional rubber granules in artificial turf fields must be phased out by 2031 at the latest. This places new demands on municipalities and sports clubs to find alternatives that meet both the players’ needs and the requirements for practical care and maintenance. At Linero IP, the City of Lund has chosen an artificial turf system from Limonta featuring BIQ400®, which is FIFA Quality PRO certified and complies with REACH requirements.

New infill—familiar properties that mimic traditional granules

One of the major advantages of BIQ400® is that the material offers superior playing characteristics and can be managed using established maintenance routines. This provides communities with a sustainable and future-proof alternative without having to compromise on playing characs or introduce new maintenance routines.

David Gabrielson, CEO of Limonta Sweden, which supplied the artificial turf system to Linero IP, highlights this as one of the solution’s key strengths:

“The major advantage of this system is that we’re still running on granules in the artificial turf—something both players and maintenance staff are used to.”

According to David, the BIQ400 system offers at least the same playing characteristics that players expect from traditional artificial turf systems.

Sustainability is also about long-term economics

In connection with the installation, BIQ invited representatives from municipalities in southern Sweden to an open house at Linero IP. Visitors got to experience the completed field and see how the right choice of materials and regular maintenance can help preserve playing quality over time.

Throughout the day, practical maintenance techniques were demonstrated, ranging from brushing and harrowing to checking infill levels and winter maintenance.

For BIQ400, the basic principle is simple: a little, but often. Regular maintenance creates the right conditions for a long service life and cost-effective operation.

Linero IP shows how municipalities can take the next step toward more sustainable artificial turf fields while maintaining playing quality and familiar maintenance routines.
